The purpose of the Padma Seat is to support the spine, helping to balance the whole body, while sitting on a flat surface. This provides comfort for long term sitting, meditation and mindfulness practices.
The Padma Seat is cleverly designed so that when fitted, it tilts the pelvis forward into the correct horizontal alignment. This then allows the entire spinal column and head to effortlessly balance above the pelvis thereby giving important support to the back. The knees are supported by the Padma Seat fitting snugly around the knee caps taking the stress off the legs.
Many adult Westerners encounter difficulty when they take up sitting on the floor to meditate. The tightness of our leg tendons pulls our pelvis into a backward slouch. When our pelvis is out of horizontal alignment, the lower back and the entire spinal column are forced into an unnatural 'S' curve. Trying to use our muscles to bring our back upright, and knees out and downward can be painful and exhausting. Sitting in perfect alignment and balance is the only possible way to avoid stressing the muscles.
The Padma Seat can also help improve their improve the Yoga practice of the cross sitting Lotus pose (Padma Asana). Once sitting in the Lotus position with the Padma Seat, adjusted to the most comfortable position, you will immediately feel that this unique device has shifted your body weight into a balanced centre of gravity.
The Padma Seat makes it possible to sit erect for longer periods of time. Being able to sit comfortably with a relaxed body allows for a more focused and centred meditation and Yoga practice. When the body is relaxed the mind can become sharper.
The Padma Seat is perfect for Yoga Classes and Retreats, Meditation Retreats and Mindfulness and Meditation Courses and Workshops.
It is very lightweight and durable and fits into a small re-usable sack, taking up minimal space and weight. The Padma Seat is ethically manufactured using quality materials.
The Padma Seat is the perfect accessory for your spiritual practice.
